SOWEGANS SOCCER CLUB played its inaugural season in the Gulf Coast Premier League from May to July 2023. The Gulf Coast Premier League serves as the highest level of amateur soccer in the gulf coast. Teams compete across the gulf from Georgia to Louisiana.
OUR PURPOSE & VISION
To create an elite level soccer club that all of Southwest GA will be proud of and support.
To create a fun and exciting game day experience for soccer fans and casual fans alike to enjoy.
To provide an opportunity for the best players in southwest GA to compete and showcase their talents for community pride and professional opportunities.
WHERE & WHEN WILL THE TEAM PLAY?
While we represent all of southwest Georgia, SOWEGANS SC play in Albany, GA.
The Gulf Coast Premier League plays between May and July, so get ready for some exciting summer Saturday nights!
PLAYERS: CAN I PLAY? WILL I GET PAID?
The club plays in the Gulf Coast Premier League in the Men's Division. The average age of the players ranges from 18 - 26, and teams are typically high level college players or post-college players. That said, there is no age limit! SOWEGANS SC is an amateur soccer club. While we'll have the opportunity to play against professional clubs in important tournaments, we will begin fully amateur, which gives us the opportunity to add college players in the summer.
We will have tryouts before our next season begins. Some will be invitation-only, while some will be open.Follow our social media to stay up to date as we put out the latest information.

Game days are going to be the best party in southwest Georgia! Saturday nights in the summer are going to be fun for all ages. Whether you love soccer or just want to come out for a fun night, all will have a blast!

THE OPEN SYSTEM
SOWEGANS SOCCER CLUB supports the grassroots effort for an open system in U.S. Soccer. The world’s game Is meant to allow access to high level soccer to every club based on merit. The Gulf Coast Premier League is an affiliate league of NISA and a key part of the NISA Pyramid. NISA’s goal is to eventually implement an open system through promotion / relegation, allowing clubs access to move up the ranks into professional soccer based on results on the field, not large expansion fees.
