THE BEAUTIFUL GAME MEETS THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH

SOWEGANS SC is a men's amateur soccer club based out of Albany, GA. We began play in the summer of 2023 as a part of the Gulf Coast Premier League, affiliated with the Amateur Elite League that includes teams from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Footie. Futbol. Soccer. No matter what you want to call it, we're huge fans. That's why we thought it was well past time for an elite level soccer club that all of Southwest GA could be proud of and support. Our goal is create a fun and exciting, family-friendly game day experience for diehards and casual fans alike to enjoy. We also want to provide an opportunity for the best players in southwest GA to come together, compete, and showcase their talents for community pride and possible professional opportunities.

ABOUT THE CREST

1. The name SOWEGANS is inclusive for all who live in Southwest Georgia (aka SOWEGA). The 14 stars represent all the counties that make up SOWEGA. This is our club!

2. The beautiful shoals spider lily is prominent on the Flint River, growing exclusively in rock crevices during May.

3. Our colors, navy and green, reflect the beauty of our rivers, streams, and forests. Formerly known as the Artesian City, Albany has a wealth of water resources and wildlife.

4. Center of the crest is the alligator snapping turtle. It's prominent in the Flint River and the largest freshwater turtle in Georgia. But mainly, we really like turtles in these parts. The meaner looking, the better.
