Albany, GA (April 25th, 2022) - The GCPL announces SOWEGANS Soccer Club of Albany, GA, as it's newest member, first from Georgia, set to join in 2023.
"Our goal is to create an elite level soccer club that all of southwest GA will be proud of and support." said founder and President, Josh Duckworth "Creating a fun and exciting game day experience for soccer fans and casual fans alike to enjoy and provide an opportunity for the best players in southwest GA to compete and showcase their talents for community pride and professional opportunities is what we're after." SOWEGANS (Southwest Georgians) will be the first club from the state of Georgia to paritipcate in the Gulf Coast Premier League, making it the 6th state to be representing along the gulf south. "GCPL was the best choice for our club because we want to join with other clubs who share similar goals to us" continued Duckworth. "We want to help build something regionally for elite amateur soccer which is what GCPL is committed to. We also like the May-July season which works well for our community in SWGA." "We really like what Josh and his club have in store to bring a great product to southern Georiga" mentioned President, Jeremy Poklemba. "They remind us of a few clubs who were able to really grow their brand and fan engagement in the GCPL before moving on. They will be a great addition." The GCPL continues to provide opportunities for ambitious clubs who are looking for the national league experience at a much more affordable costs in a travel friendly environment. "I'm from SWGA and for years I've been dreaming about bringing a high level soccer team in SWGA." add Duckworth.
